Remote music lessons: a temporary or permanent option
Remote lessons are always an option in my studio. I've taught music online to both local, East Coast, and international students over the last few years and it's a great opportunity to utilize technology to pursue music without the challenges of transportation and parent availability. Pajamas and slippers are just fine, as long as you show up ready to make music!
With the advances in technology and growing familiarity with online platforms such as Skype and Zoom, it is generally both effective and efficient to do music lessons online. It's not for everyone, though, so we can have a conversation about it if you're not sure. Generally speaking, if your child is young, easily distracted, or uncomfortable with video calls, it may not be a good option.
Currently about 1/3 of my students are online and plan to stay that way. I teach online on Mondays and Thursdays and currently have a couple of openings. If you're interested in how online lessons work or want to see if it will work for you or your child, let's talk.
